Hola! I'm Armando, a Spanish sociolinguist and academic programs director. My passion is to empower others with the awareness of their linguistic experience, applying sociocultural theory to empirical observations.

My research observes Spanish language variation in the United States, investigating how social identities and cultural practices are constructed and negotiated through linguistic interaction in Spanish-speaking communities, with a primary interest in the ethnolinguistic repertoire of heritage speakers in California. My approach is interdisciplinary, encompassing research tools in sociolinguistics, anthropology, and sociology.

Yoga has supported his path to self healing, and I am elated to share my personal practice with my community. I am certified through YogaWorks®, where I completed a 200-hr yoga teacher training in 2017 on the island of Koh-Samui, Thailand with senior yoga teachers Ana Zorzou and David Kim.

meet armando.
